LM2901 consists of four independent voltage comparators that are designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. The IC basically offers a low-cost high-performance solution to conventional design issues & also possesses direct interfacing capability with almost every PMOS, CMOS, and NMOS device. The IC also offers flexibility in terms of optimization preferences in high optimization areas, allowing it to be the first choice for most electronic design applications.
Voltage Comparator
A voltage comparator is a simple electronic circuit that has the capability to compare two applied voltages. The comparator then switches the output to either a high or low state depending upon which voltage is higher. Comparator circuits are widely used in applications, where physical measurements need to be compared, provided those physical variables can be translated into voltage signals. In a practical voltage comparator; the reference voltage is set using the voltage divider network comprising of R1 and R2.
Vref = (V+/ (R1 + R2)) x R2.
