The LM293 IC consists of two independent low voltage comparators designed specifically to operate from a single supply over a wide range of voltages. The IC has a distinct advantage over conventional comparators in terms of operating efficiency. The output of the IC always comes in TTL which makes it easy to work with other TTL devices and microcontrollers. The IC also offers a wide range of applications such as high operating speed, fan-in/fan-out capabilities, and low production cost, etc.

Voltage Comparator

A voltage comparator is a simple electronic configuration, that compares two voltages at two different levels, and then switches the output to wither LOW or HIGH state with respect to a voltage that is at a higher level then the other. In other words, a voltage comparator compares the magnitude of two voltage inputs and determines which is the largest of the two. There are two main types of voltage comparators:
