CD4520 belongs to the CD4000 IC family. CD4520 consists of dual synchronous 4-stage up counters. the counters are constructed using D – type flip flops with interchangeable CLOCK and ENABLE lines for incrementing on either the positive going or negative going transition. For single unit operation, the ENABLE input is maintained high and the counter advances on each positive-going transition of the CLOCK. These counters can be revert back from their high levels on their RESET lines. The IC also offers many features such as high noise immunity and low thermal dissipation. The IC is always available in 16 – pin hermetically sealed package and is directly interfaceable with every TTL, CMOS & NMOS device.
What is An Up Counter?
An up counter is a simple digital logic configuration that can count immediate as well as subsequent events in an increasing order. They are the simplest kind of counter and can start counting from a base value of zero (0). A simple up counter can easily be made by rigging two D – type flip flops.
