Introduction

LED is an extensively used electronic component or element. However, before, they were only employed as indicators or in display applications. But, with the advancement of white LED, they are now employed in many lighting applications. For example, they are now adopted as street lights, etc. In other words, white LEDs are now found everywhere. Thus, some technologies help these white LEDs to emit white light or radiation. And, there are some of the circuits that drive these LEDs.

In this tutorial, we are going to make a “White LED Driver Circuit”. The circuit is simple to make and demands very several external components which makes it easier for beginners to make this circuit.

Working Explanation

This white LED driver circuit uses the CAT3200TDI-GT3 IC. Input voltage is applied at pin 5 of an IC, while pin 2 is grounded. Pin 4, is the negative connection for the flying capacitor while pin 6 is the positive connection of the same capacitor. A Flying capacitor is basically used to transfer the charge in a charge pump. Output is taken at pin 1 of an IC which is driving five white LEDs in this circuit.
