Connection

  1. Place the 555 timer IC on the breadboard.
  2. Connect Pin 8 of 555 timers to the VCC of the battery.
  3. Connect Pin 1 of 555 timers to the GND of the battery.
  4. Use the Jumper wire to connect Pin 6 and Pin 2 of the 555 timer IC.
  5. Use a 22K Ω resistor to connect Pin 7 and Pin 2 of the 555 timer IC.
  6. Connect the 10uF capacitor between Pin 2 and GND.
  7. Connect 1K Ω resistor between Pin 4 and GND.
  8. Connect 100K Ω resistor between Pin 7 and VCC
  9. Connect the 100pF capacitor between Pin 5 and GND.
  10. Connect the Button/Switch between Pin 4 and Pin 8 of the 555 timer IC.
  11. Connect Buzzer between Pin 3 and GND,
  12. Connect the battery and test the circuit

Working Explanation

We have made this circuit using low-cost electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, 555 timer IC and a small buzzer. The main component of this circuit is the 555 timer IC which is operating in monostable mode. We can change the frequency of the circuit by changing the value of resistors (100K &22K) and capacitors (10uF). Although the power will be supplied to the 555 timers all the time, the alarm will only work when the button is pressed and a high voltage is given to Pin 4 of the IC.

Application

  • This circuit can be used to alert third-party monitoring services in case of an emergency event.
  • You can replace the switch with any sensor if you want the alarm to turn On automatically in case of an emergency
