A tilt sensor is a component that is used for recognizing the planar movement. There are various types of tilt sensors available in the market, however, their functioning is almost the same. Their primary function is to detect the plane shift from horizontal to vertical and send a signal or warning when it happens. In this sensor, we are going to discuss a basic contact type TILT SENSOR module known as SW-520.
Hardware Overview
The module’s hardware comprises LM393 IC, trimmer pot, and tilt sensor as their major component.
LM393 IC
They have used lM393 Comparator IC as a voltage comparator in this vibration sensor module. It connects IC’s pin 2 of LM393 to the potentiometer while connecting pin 3 to the vibration sensor. The comparator IC compares the set threshold voltage using the preset pin2 and the Vibration Sensor pin 3.
Trimmer pot
There is an onboard potentiometer, one can adjust the threshold sensitivity of the digital output using this trimmer pot.
Tilt Sensor
The module has tilt sensors that detect the inclination or orientation. It is only proportionate to a pushbutton activated through a different physical mechanism. This sensor is the environmental-friendly version of a mercury switch. It comprises two metallic balls inside that will shorten the two pins of the device from on to off.

Application
Tilt Security alarm
The tilt sensor notices a change in the vehicle’s angle to the ground. When the alarm is strengthened and the vehicle is double-locked, then any change in the angle of the vehicle activates the tilt alarm.
Digital Cameras
The tilt sensor observes the lateral head motion to drive the right and left displacement of the camera. They invented this system to benefit people with disabilities to allow them to serve as security staff to earn for their life.
Robotic Arms
Tilt sensors allow you to detect the orientation or inclination of the robotic arm. Hence measures the tilt angle with plane reference.
