Introduction:

An amplifier refers to the electronic device that produces an output signal, a strengthened version of the input signal. They can be classified as operational amplifiers, small-signal amplifiers up to large signals, and power amplifiers. An amplifier is an essential part of any music system.

Audio amplifiers are used for the amplification of weak audio signals taken as input and are reproduced at the output through loudspeakers or headsets. The signals are strengthened enough to meet the requirement of the application and may vary accordingly.

Here we will discuss the working of a simple audio amplifier that can draw an output power of 2 watts. This mini simple circuit can be useful for many applications and can be built easily using a few components.

Working Explanation:

The circuit contains only a few components that make it work perfectly. It requires IC TDA7052, a potentiometer, two capacitors, and a 6V power supply. The output can be any load within 8 ohms with a power output of 2 watts. IC TDA7052 is the heart of the circuit that amplifies the incoming input signal, potentiometer on the other hand is used to control the volume while the two capacitors are utilized for the filtering of the supply voltage. If the circuit operates on a battery, then the capacitors are not required in the circuit.

IC TDA7052 is a mono audio amplifier with a maximum power output of 2 watts. The IC operated at 3-18V supply voltage. This device is useful for small signal amplification as the voltage gain of the device is fixed internally to 40 DB, designed specifically for battery-operated circuits.

Applications & Uses:

Following are the applications of small audio amplifier circuits:

  • A 2W audio amplifier is best suited for portable devices.
  • The circuit can be used in pocket radios.
  • Small stereo systems also utilize small audio amplifier circuits.
