Sensitive Static Electricity Detector Switch

In this tutorial, we are making a project of a Super sensitive static electricity detector. After detecting any static electricity around, this circuit will activate an LED and a relay switch. Any AC or DC load or appliance can be connected with the relay to switch it on when any electrostatic field is detected by the circuit.

This circuit is using a 2N3819 FET i.e., Field effect transistor. FET is a three-terminal semiconductor device. It relies on an electric field to control the flow of current.

Working Explanation

This circuit can be operated at 9 to 12 volts DC. The FET is working as a static electricity detector in this circuit, when any charge or electrostatic field is present it will be detected by the 8-inch antenna and it will send the signal at the gate terminal of the FET, the charge will flow through the source to drain and it will activate the transistor 2N3904. This transistor will provide 0.7 volts at the base of the second transistor and it will activate as well which will turn on the LED and the relay switch. In this way, your ac or DC appliance will be activated in the presence of an electrostatic field.

This circuit can be operated at lower voltages such as 5 or 6 volts but you have to use a relay with the same voltage as the input voltage. You can experiment with different kinds of antennas and work with whichever you find the accurate.
