Power Outage Time Estimator using 555 Timer & PC817

In this circuit, we are going to develop a “Power Outage Time Estimator”. Power outages are due to freezing rain, hail storms, and additionally high breezes that harm electrical cables and equipment. Most power outages will be over nearly when they start, yet some can last any longer – up to days or even weeks. This basic power outage time estimator will consequently begin determining the time of power outage in your absence and show on the screen of the calculator in minutes.

Power Outage Time Estimator Circuit

Working Explanation

The circuit is easy to construct and utilizes common and low-cost segments. The circuit will work at both 110V and 220V AC. In the backup, it is additionally utilizing four 1.5V AAA size batteries, which will be associated consequently with the circuit without mains power. The batteries may be associated directly with the circuit during a power blackout because of which they will last more.

After making the circuit, it requires some changes initially which we have to do one time for setting up the circuit. To adjust the circuit, initially modify the output pulse of the 555 timer IC to one pulse for every minute so the adding machine includes one digit for each minute, this should be possible by changing the 1M variable resistor. Any cheap and normal calculator can be utilized with the circuit.

Applications and Uses

The Power outage time estimator is used to calculate the time of power outage when you are not present.
