Introduction
In this tutorial, we will make a “One-Touch to ON-OFF Switch”. This effective switch can easily detect the touch of a person. Hence, it can be used in automation circuits. Also, this sensitive circuit can be utilized for safety purpose circuit that gives a warning alert when an intruder enters a home, museum, office, bank, or any other place. It prevents robbery and heists.
Pin Configuration of 555 timer IC
- Pin 1: Connects to the ground
- Pin 2: Trigger pin. It needs one-third of the supply voltage for triggering. It has a high impedance and can work with 1uf.
- Pin 3: Output Pin.
- Pin 4: To reset the circuit. The voltage should be 0.8 or less to reset.
- Pin 5: Control pin.
- Pin 6: Threshold pin. Have high impedance and can work with 0.2uA.
- Pin 7: Discharge.
- Pin 8: Power supply.

Working Explanation
In this One-Touch to ON-OFF Switch, there is a timer IC555 which provides a timing output component that depends on put applied at pin 2, trigger input of an IC, while the duration of the pulse depends on the timing resistor and capacitor connected with the IC. For ON/OFF control first, you have to make a meta touch piece, and then connect it with trigger pin 2 input threshold pin 6. The ground supply plate set near pin 2 makes the switch ON and the set Positive supply plate near pin 6 makes the Off switch. We took output at pin 3 where LED will show the result.
Application and Uses
- The circuit is good for home and industrial automation.
- Can also be used for safety purposes.
