You often heard about GPS tracking. Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based system that employs the satellite to estimate the position, understand the navigation, permit the tracking, stimulate the mapping, and estimate the precise time. The system is used to track or trace the position through the device called the GPS module. We use the module in smartphones, compact wearable devices, etc. The different modules are available in the market. Here we talk about the NE06MV2 GPS module.

Overview of NE06MV2 GPS Module

This NEO-6MV2  GPS module is used for navigation. The module controls its location on Earth and provides output data which is the longitude and latitude of its position. The module has a compact architecture and includes power and memory options which make the module ideal for battery-operated devices. The modules’ design gives good navigation performance even in the most demanding environments.

Hardware Overview

  • NE06MV2 chip: The module contains the NE06MV2 chip which can track up to 22 satellites on fifty channels and gets the highest level of sensitivity.
  • LED: There module also includes an LED that shows the status of Position Fix. The LED blinks at various rates depending on what state it is in. For example, there would be no blinking if the module is searching for satellites. And, it blinks every second if a position fix is found.
  • Regulator: The operating voltage module is 2.7 to 3.6V. But there is a MIC5205 regulator, the ultra-low dropout 3V3 regulator.
  • EEPROM: The designers have equipped the module with an HK24C32 two-wire serial EEPROM, having 4KB size, and is connected to the NEO-6M chip through I2C.
  • Antenna: There is an antenna on the module for any kind of communication, having -161 dBm sensitivity.
