Low Power Audio Amplifier Using LM386

In our various articles, we have discussed audio amplifiers. Now, you already know that amplifiers play a crucial role in electronic circuits and audio amplifiers are the major element of today’s electronic devices.

So today we are making the circuit that is used in small audio devices, hence consuming very small power. Thus, it also needs very few electronic components which comfort the beginners to easily handle the circuit. The major component of a low-power audio amplifier is the LM386 integrated circuits.

Working Explanation

Firstly, connect the Low Power Audio Amplifier circuit according to the circuit diagram given in this article. As you can see, IC LM386 is the major component in this circuit. This IC is actually the audio amplifier that allows inverting and non-inverting inputs. Inverting input is normally grounded and hence we also grounded that pin, which is pin 2. The input is given to pin 3 of an IC, wired with the potentiometer. The power is given to pin 6 of an IC. Pin 7 is the bypass pin, thus wired with the decoupling capacitors, Pin 1 and 8 are gain pins and in this circuit, they also get grounded. Pin 5 provides the amplified output and drives the load.

Applications

  • In audio boosters.
  • Portable music players or amplifiers.
  • FM radio amplifiers, etc.
