The LM258 is a dual standard, low power, industrial grade operational amplifier. The IC is recommended for applications including transducer amplifiers, dc amplification blocks, and all the conventional operational amplifier circuits that now can be implemented more easily in single-supply-voltage systems. The IC is always available in an 8 – pin hermetically sealed dual in line IC packaging (DIP). LM258 also offers many different features such as ESD barring, thermal overload protection, and high input impedance.
Operational Amplifier
Operational amplifiers are simple electronic circuits that can boost a weak signal to a level of higher amplitude. An operational amplifier is generally used in applications such as home entertainment systems, megaphones, speakers, and microphones, etc. An op-amp usually operates with a number of feedback components that determine the resulting function or “operation” of the amplifier, by virtue of the different feedback configurations whether resistive, capacitive, or both.
