Introduction

LED torch or torchlight is a lightweight, compact electric light. The first dry cell better-powered flashlight was introduced in 1899 using an incandescent light bulb. But, Later it was replaced by a light-emitting diode. Certainly, LEDs are more efficient than incandescent bulbs. LEDs have some kind of management to limit the current through the diode. Moreover, regulated LED torchlights or flashlights may also have a selectable level for a user. An LED light can contain different colors. And, consumes less electricity.

The light output varies more widely in LED torchlights. In this blog, we are going to make an LED torch. To make this circuit use a general-purpose printed circuit board. IC max660 is the major component of this circuit. Remember, to mount an IC on an IC holder. Use the tantalum capacitors and 1N4148 transistors.

Working Explanation

Max660 IC is a Cmos monolithic voltage converter. When the voltage is applied to pin 8 of the IC through the switch. It activates the IC. The LEDs are connected at the output pin of the IC, that is pin 5. So, IC easily drives the LEDs. The torch can be turned ON or OFF through the switch in the corruption.

Application

  • For household use
  • In bicycle headlamps
  • In the keychains etc
  • For rescue and search
  • To explore the caves, forests, etc
  • In tactical flashlights
  • For hiking etc
  • For general purpose use
