How to Make a Simple Amplifier Circuit without IC

Introduction

To increase the input power of any signal amplifiers are widely used. By definition, Amplifiers are circuits that magnify the amplitude of the input signal. So, audio amplifiers are those which amplify the input of the audio signal. But, not every audio amplifier is powerful enough to look at all the factors and gives the perfect increased output. Also, understand that amplifiers can change the amplitude of the signal from lower to higher value but the frequency and shape of that signal remain the same as the input. To make the amplifier circuits, their designers have already invented different ICs but we are here to learn the basic concept, therefore, in this tutorial, we are going to make a “Simple Amplifier Circuit without IC”

Working Explanation

This simple amplifier circuit first takes a low input audio input signal of any kind. The audio signal is then transferred to the base of the transistor. This triggers the transistor so transistor stats work. This NPN transistor amplifies the audio signal. The transistor is wired in a common emitter configuration. Therefore emitter is grounded and output is taken at the collector. Hence, the speaker is connected to the collector. High output audio signal is observed at the output. A resistor is there to manage the sound quality at the output.

Application and Uses

  • In the toys for children.
  • Audio electronic devices like an audio headsets, etc.
  • Also, in the audio portable devices.
  • Robotics applications can also use this circuit.
  • Home audio systems can use this circuit.
