In this tutorial, we are demonstrating the project of making an “insect trap”. Insect traps are utilized to control or legitimately reduce the population of bugs or different insects, by trapping insects and killing them. Insect traps are once in a while utilized in “pest management programs” rather than pesticides but are more regularly used to look at “occasional and distributional patterns” of bug occurrence. This is a portable insect trap, you can use it in your home or you can carry this insect trap anywhere.
Hardware Components
The required hardware components for making an insect trap are listed below:
S.no | Components | Value | Qty |
---|---|---|---|
1. | Ice Cream Sticks | – | 8 |
2. | Copper Wires | As per need | 1 |
3. | Electric wires | – | 1 |
4. | Empty Bottle | – | 1 |
5. | Capacitor | 2.5µF | 1 |
Circuit Construction
Step# 01
Take ice cream sticks and join them together with a glue gun.
Step# 02
Take copper wires and wrap them in between the sticks.
Step# 03
Take wires and connect them with the copper wires.
Step# 04
Now both objects have to be put on top of each other.
Step# 05
Now take an empty bottle and cut it down from its bottom and pass the wires from it and join it with the object.
Step# 06
Now take a 2.5µF capacitor and connect it with the wires to make the connection by using electric tape.
Working Explanation
In this section, we are discussing the circuit operation of the insect trap. In this project, we are using some ice cream sticks which are joined together and the nichrome wire is wrapped around these sticks there is an “electrical connection” between these nichrome wires and after the insects make contact with these nichrome wires, they will get an “electric shock” and they will die. For making an “electrical connection”, we are using a capacitor of 2.5µF.
Applications and Uses
Insect trap is used to kill insects like mosquitoes, ants, flies, etc.
