Introduction

High-fidelity or HiFi headphones are very much common in today’s world. There was a time when the world desperately needed the amplification of sounds, and designers made the amplification circuits, etc. Now, there is a time that you can hear these amplified sounds only by yourself using the HiFi headphone amplifier. The term HiFi refers to high quality. However, these headphones are relatively more expensive than LoFi amplifiers. Yet, they can produce high-quality music. Also, the rate to eliminate noise and distortion is much higher than other amplifiers. Moreover, it can perform both analog and digital functions, hence preferable.

For making the HiFi headphone amplifier circuit, we are using the LM4880 integrated circuit. LM4880 has been designed in a way that it can produce high-quality output with 250mW of power per channel. The IC uses fewer external components. Moreover, the IC can produce 85 megawatts of power for a 32ohms speaker. Certainly, the circuit can be operated from 2.7v to 5V. Remember to build the circuit on a high-quality board.

Working Explanation

In this circuit of HiFi amplifier Capacitors, C4 and C5 are used as input decoupling capacitors applied at pin 2 of the IC. While capacitor C6 is working as a power supply filtered capacitor is given at pin 3 of the IC. The resistors R1 and R2 are working as feedback resistors connected between pins 1 and 2, and pin 6 or 7 respectively. Capacitors C1 and C2 are output capacitors that drive the load.

Application and Uses

This circuit is mainly for headphones. But, with some modification, you can use it in other HiFi instruments like speakers, etc.
