The image underneath shows electronic dice that can be made to produce an arbitrary number. It may be utilized as an ordinary dice in games.

The dice work by exchanging LEDs ON and OFF in a pattern of dabs found on customary dice. The microcontroller is the ‘master mind’ of the electronic dice.

Microcontrollers are ground-breaking electronic parts that have a memory and can be modified to turn things ON and OFF in any require and unpredictable pattern. The microcontroller in the dice can turn the LEDs ON and OFF to show numbers somewhere in the range of one and six. Each time the press button S1 is squeezed it leaves the circuit will show a different number.

The microcontroller that we use here in this project is of two kinds. One is NE555 clock IC while the other is CD4017 Johnson decade counter.

Working Explanation

The circuit is utilizing two ICs and many other discrete parts i.e. 1N4148 power diodes, 10µF and 0.01µF capacitors, Two 1kΩ resistors, one switch, and a series of 470R variable resistors, and so forth mentioned in the circuit diagram.

IC1 is a 555 clock IC that is operating as a signal generator in the circuit. The IC2 is a Johnson decade counter with 16 output pins. The working voltage of the circuit is 9V to 12V DC. The above circuit detaches in two segments, the underlying first section of the circuit works around a 555 clock IC which gives clock pulses on the clock input of the Johnson CD4017-decade counter IC. The resulting second part works around a CD4017 IC which enacts a new output and closes the last one when these pulses get on its clock input pin 14. As of now, we use only 8 yields of the 4017 IC.
