BMP180 digital barometric pressure sensor module is small, low power consumption, a precise and accurate sensor that can be used to measure pressure. As the pressure varies with both weather and altitude, therefore, it can also be used for detecting changes in weather, measure relative altitude or even find the vertical speed (rise/fall) of an object. Since temperature changes the density of gases like air and hence the pressure applied on the sensor also varies, therefore, BMP180 module can also be used for measuring temperature.
The sensor is made up of piezoresistive semiconducting material (usually silicon). There will be a change in resistance when the mechanical force like atmospheric pressure is applied to it. The module can directly be connected with a variety of microprocessor via the I2C bus.
