CD4512 is a part of the CD4000 IC series. The CD4512 IC is an 8-channel data selector. The IC circuitry is housed within a CMOS circuit constructed using N and P – channel transistors. Data selectors are primarily used for digital signal multiplexing, selecting 1 out of 8 inputs and routing the signal to the output. A high level at the Inhibit input forces a low level at the output. A high level at the Output Enables (OE)’ input forces the output into the three state conditions. Low levels at both the Inhibit and (OE) inputs allow normal operation. CD4512 has a wide array of features such as ESD immunity and efficient thermal compensation. This IC is very simple to use and can be interfaced directly with CMOS, NMOS & TTL devices.

A data selector is a combinational logic circuit that switches one of several input lines to a single common output line. The address lines determine which input is connected to the output, and also to increase the amount of data that can be sent over a network within a certain time. Data selectors are also known as multiplexers.
