CD4510 belongs to the CD4000 IC series. CD4510 is a Presettable BCD Up/Down Counter. Synchronous cascading is accomplished by connecting all clock inputs in parallel and connecting the CARRY OUT of a less significant stage to the CARRY IN of a more significant stage. The CD4510 can be cascaded in the ripple mode by connecting the CARRY OUT to the clock of the next stage. The CD4510 IC has a wide range of working voltage, a wide range of working conditions, and directly interfaces with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL configurations. The IC CD4510 is much compact in terms of chip size and provides much faster propagation speed which makes it reliable in every kind of device.

A decade/BCD counter is a serial digital counter which can count up to 10 decimal digits. It goes through 10 unique combinations of output & RESETS for every new clock input. A BCD counter can count 0000, 0001, 0010, 1000, 1001, 1010, 1011, 1110, 1111, 0000, and 0001 and so on.
