Automatic Headlight Circuit

If the new automobile you’ve decided to purchase has automatic headlights as standard equipment, it’s a lovely little luxury. Even if you can’t afford them, attempting to build their circuit as an electronics enthusiast can be beneficial. So, in this tutorial, we are going to “Automatic Headlight circuit”

Since this is a prototype circuit, so it doesn’t require lots of components. With only a few basic components you can make this circuit.

What are Automatic Headlights

Automatic headlights are identical to regular front-mounted headlights, except that they turn on while the vehicle is on and it is dark without the driver having to switch them on manually. When it is clear and during the day, they will remain off, but if the vehicle enters a dark area, such as a tunnel, they automatically turn on and off as necessary.

Working Explanation

This Automatic Headlight circuit was built using an IC 555. The output of IC 555 is connected with the relay and headlight, with the LDR serving as a trigger input sensor. The LDR delivers low resistance when the vehicle is moving during the day, which is why the triggering pin is supplied with a positive supply. This prevents the IC 555 from pulse oscillation. When the car enters a dark area, the LDR presents a high resistance, which causes the negative supply to rise through potentiometer VR1 and activate the IC 555, activating the output and turning on the headlights.
