Audio Equalizer Circuit using LA3600

This is a monolithic linear IC from Sanyo, a simple audio equalizer circuit designed using the popular 5-band IC LA3600 graphical equalizer. The LA3600 IC is suitable for portable stereo players, audio mixers, simple audio amplifiers, and equalizer needs in all parts of the system.

IC LA3600 is available in DIP (dual inline package) with 16 pins, and on the chip, it includes a single operating amplifier and five bands of a graphic equalizer for one channel. We can create 10 equalizers by connecting two LA3600; we can control different frequency bands, by the way.

Working Explanation

The LA3600 IC can supply up to 20 volts of Vcc, and fixed capacitors and variable resistors separate five various bands. This circuit has a 12-volt power supply. By using variable resistors, each band output can be varied (VR). You can split stereo audio or even equalize the audio with two LA3600 ICs.

This circuit takes single audio. An audio input signal is separated into resistors and provided in the equalizer IC for separate base inputs. Finally, the internal op-amp amplifies all base inputs, and pin 13 outputs the audio signal. The circuit can be made more professional with a slide potentiometer instead of a Variable Resistor.

Application and Uses

An equalizer can be used to correct or modify a speaker system frequency response instead of designing the speaker itself to receive the desired response.
