The 74LS93 is a 4-bit binary counter made of two up-counters. The IC consists of a mode-2 up-counter and a mod-8 up counter. It is built using four JK Flip Flops. The 74LS93 IC has a wide range of working voltage, a wide range of working conditions, and directly interfaces with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL. The IC is smaller in size and it has a much faster speed which makes it reliable in every kind of device.
What is a Decade/Binary Counter?
A Binary Counter is a serial digital counter that counts ten digits. it resets for every new clock input. As it can go through 10 unique combinations of output, it is also called as “Decade counter”. A binary counter can count 0000, 0001, 0010, 1000, 1001, 1010, 1011, 1110, 1111, 0000, and 0001 and so on. A 4 bit binary counter will act as a decade counter by skipping any six outputs out of the 16 (24) outputs.
