An Overview
This temperature sensor looks very similar to the famous DHT11 or DHT22 temperature and humidity sensors. However, those DHT sensors don’t contain a 12C sensor, and AM2320 has an I2C interface. We recommend it to use this little sensor in a mini breadboard with male-to-female jumper wires to connect it to the microcontroller or processor.
Hardware
The internal circuitry differs from DHT temperature sensors. For example, in those sensors, you need to connect the filtering capacitors and pull-up resistors externally. On the other hand, this AM2320 module includes a built-in filtering capacitor and pull-up resistors. The sensor comes as a 4-pin package. Moreover, The module has a high measuring range and great accuracy. However, it is more costly than others.
Working
This AM2320 transfers the data to the microcontroller through a single wire serial interface. And, for this, it uses the DATA pin. When power is given to the sensor, it initially remains in the unstable status for a second, and during this time we should send no instructions to the sensor. It takes 5mseconds to make single-time communication between the microcontroller and sensor.

Applications
The Weather Station
Due to the reasonable cost of this temperature sensor, we can use this in practical weather stations projects that can depict the environmental temperature and humidity which may help in various industries.
Automotive Industry
We can integrate temperature and Humidity sensors into HVAC systems to prevent the fogging of windscreens of vehicles and energy management. We can also place this sensor near the exhaust chamber to maintain the temperature.
Dehumidifiers
Dehumidifiers improve the humidity level in your home to ease problems caused by humid air and decrease the growth of pests such as fleas. Thus, AM2320 can be efficient and user-friendly to use in dehumidifiers.
