In Electronics circuitry, the current flow is a requirement. They based this ACS721 current module on the ACS712 sensor, which detects alternating and direct currents. And, ACS712 detects the maximum current of 30A. We can read the present current signal through analog I/O ports of any microcontroller. there are other versions of this module that can detect the current of 20A and 5A

An Overview of ACS712 30A Current Sensor Module

Hardware Overview of ACS712 30A

The module has two phoenix terminal connectors of green colors with mounting screws. Through these terminals, the wire has to be passed. While using, one has to make sure they connect the module in series with the load and be extra watchful to avoid shorts. On the other side of the module, there are three pins. The VCC to power the module requires 5V, the ground. And the analog pin to read.

Working Principle

The ACS712 30A Range Current Sensor Module or hall sensor device comprises a specific linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path near the surface of the die. The applied current that flows through this copper conduction path develops a magnetic field that the Hall integrated circuit transforms into a proportional voltage.

Applications

Over Current Protection Circuits

We need protection circuits for electronic devices to be outstanding. And, for this purpose, we often use overcurrent protection in power supply circuits to limit or reduce the output current. It helps to cut off the load from the power supply during any fault happens. This circuit employs the ACS712 sensor modules.

Switched-mode power supplies

A switched-mode power supply allows them to turn the ON or OFF the system for lower and higher frequencies and therefore, ACS712 is used in their applications.
