Audio amplifiers are simple electronic circuits that can boost weak AC/DC signals to a level of higher amplitude. Amplifiers are an essential part of discrete electronic devices such as audio amps, mono & stereo speakers, etc. So, in this project, we are going to design a simple audio amplifier circuit using a C5200 NPN Power transistor.
The 2SC5200 is a high-power NPN transistor with a collector-to-emitter voltage of 230V and a collector current of 30A. The transistor is available in the TO-264 package. Due to its high current gain and collector current, it is very commonly used in High power audio circuits or AF amplifiers.

Powerful Audio Amplifier Circuit
Working Explanation
The working of this audio amplifier circuit using C5200 is as follows. Audio input from a device such as a PC or a smartphone is taken as input to the circuit. A 10K pot controls the input voltage level & a capacitor (220uF) blocks the DC component of the input signal, allowing only the AC component of the signal to move onwards. This AC signal acts as a control signal to the base of a 2SC5200 high-power NPN Transistor.
The amplified collector output from the transistor then goes to the -ve terminal of an 8 Ohms/0.5-watt speaker, while the +ve terminal of the speaker is connected to a 12V DC power supply through a 3.5mm DC male power jack. Optionally, you can use a heat sink of appropriate dimensions to protect the transistor from overheating.
