An audio amplifier, an electronic audio amplifier, or an audio amp is an electronic device that boosts the power of an audio signal by increasing the amplitude of a small sound signal to a useful level, all the while maintaining the smaller signal’s parameters. In this sense, an audio amplifier circuit (TA7222AP) modulates the output of the power supply to ensure that the output signal is stronger than the input signal.
An amplifier is effectively the opposite of an attenuator: while an amplifier provides gain, an attenuator provides loss. In this project, we will design a 6 Watt audio amplifier circuit using TA7222AP.

Working Explanation
The core of this circuit is a TA7222AP amplifier (IC1). This IC has ten pins. Pin 1 connects to the +9V power supply. 470µF, 16V capacitor (C1) connected between +9V and ground acts as a filter. Pins 2 and 3 of the IC are not in use. Pin 4 connects to an audio input terminal through a 100K potentiometer VR1, capacitor C2 and resistor R1.VR1 controls the audio input signal.
Pin 5 of the IC connects to the ground through resistor R2 and capacitor C3. Pin 6 is not in use. Pins 7 and 8 are grounded. Capacitor C4 connected between pins 9 and 10. Pin 9 connects to the ground through capacitor C6. It also connects with the 4-ohm speaker (LS1) through capacitor C5.
Applications
- Used in audio automotive designs such as car stereos, radios & Hi-Fi audio setups.
- Widely used in sound systems such as speakers, high-power megaphones, & acoustic systems.
