2N2222 is an NPN bipolar junction transistor commonly used for low power amplification and switching. It has three terminals namely emitter, base, and collector. It is designed for low to medium current, low power, medium voltage, and can operate at moderately high speeds.

It was originally made in the TO-18 metal package. It is very much similar to BC547 but 2N2222 can drive larger loads as the maximum collector current is up to 800mA with low power dissipation.
