Introduction

A bicycle dynamo is a kind of generator that is joined by a bicycle to generate electricity for the lights of the bicycle. The topmost side of the dynamo touches the rim of the tire and it spins during the movement of the bicycle.

Presently, the dynamo refers to the procedures that are able to generate direct current such as minor devices that are connected to bicycles to produce power for the lights. The output of the bicycle dynamo is used to deliver power to several devices. The circuit of the DIY bicycle dynamo USB charger uses the power of the output of the bicycle dynamo and generates a regulated output of 5 volts for charging the devices.

Working Explanation

A diode bridge consisting of four 1N5822 diodes is used in the circuit of a DIY bicycle USB charger. The two sides of the bridge diode that are consisting of different poles i.e. positive and negative poles are connected with the 6V/3W bicycle dynamo. The side of the negative poles in the diode bridge is grounded while the side of the positive poles is connected with the input pin of LM294OCT IC. The output pin of LM294OCT IC is connected with type A the female USB socket. The devices are charged through the circuit of a DIY bicycle dynamo USB charger by connecting them with the type A female USB socket.

Application and Uses

The circuit of the DIY bicycle dynamo USB charger is used for charging GPS, mp4, mp3, cameras, smartphones, etc.
