Introduction

What happens at the entrance when you go shopping in a mall, when you visit any museum, or when you go to the airport? The security officer always asks you to walk through the ” walk through” gates. Why? For security purposes. Check if you carry any harmful stuff with you. These gates have metal detectors in them. Sound interesting? So do you want to make that circuit? Let’s make it in this article. So our this article topic is “Metal Detector Circuit”.

The metal indicator or detector is an electronic instrument that identifies the presence of metal close by. Metal indicators can assist individuals with observing metal considerations concealed inside the objects, or metal items covered underground. The detector has a buzzer which increases its intensity of sound when the metal gets closed.

Working Explanation

A significant part of this Metal Detector Circuit is the designing of Inductor loop L1 because the sensitivity and result depend on this Inductor, To make this inductor we are using an insulated copper wire of 0.4mm, the inductor has 40mm in diameter across, and is made of 50 turns. Thus the inductor work as the tank component. The change of inductance value can change the output. The circuit also uses the IC CS209A which has an oscillator circuit inside. goes about as a tank component. We associate this circuit OUT 1 with LED and we wired OUT 2 with a 5V buzzer.

The buzzer beeps when the metal is detected by the circuit. We can change the sensitivity of this circuit by utilizing the potentiometer VR1. The buzzer will beep when the coil gets near the metal object.

Application and Uses

  • Walk through gates in malls, museums, etc
  • Metal detector security doors.
  • In airports, to detect the presence of metal objects.
  • In different industries.
