Introduction

One problem that is always faced by circuit designers and especially by beginner students is the stress of different voltages at different levels. Further, the problem increases more when the circuits are smaller and when we are working on smaller voltages. Thus, we cannot deny that it’s difficult to increase the voltages from a lower voltage to a higher voltage which is not that much higher. As for the beginner student, it’s the real issue. Since we always try to come up with circuits that may help the beginner. Therefore, in this tutorial, we are going to Make a “1.5V to 5V Converter”. The circuit is easy to make and requires fewer electronic components.

Working Explanation

To make the 1.5V to 5V Converter, we are using LM2621MM IC. The IC has 8 pins which help to step up the DC voltage. Pin 8, the Sw pin is the drain of the internal MOSFET of an IC, and pin 7, the BOOT pin is basically the bootstrap supply of the gate of the internal MOSFET. Both the pins are connected by MBRS140T3G, a surface mount Schottky power rectifier. Pin 3 is the frequency adjustment pin. Therefore, a resistor is wired between this pin and VDD pin 6 to set the switching frequency of an IC. Thus, pin 6 is the power supply for the internal circuit.

Application and Uses

Any electronic device that needs 5V for any circuit can use this.
