Introduction

Amplifiers are the devices that boost the input power of the system at the output. Audio amplifiers increase the audio amplitude of input signals. The amplification at the output of the circuit can be comprehended by the gain of the circuit. Hence, the power gain of any amplifier is greater than one. Amplifiers are usually part of electronic equipment or device. Amplifiers are classified into pre-amplifier and power amplifiers. Power amplifiers are further divided into so many other types. The audio amplifier belongs to the power amplifiers group. In this article, we will make an audio amplifier using an integrated circuit LA4550.

LA4550 is the power amplification IC having two channels. It has an outstanding ripple rejection and channel separation. Moreover, it has very low noise. Also, it can deliver 4 watts of power at the output. However, it requires a heat sink. The supply we are using is 12 Volts. But, remember not to use more than 13Volts as input supply for this circuit.

Working Explanation

Firstly, for this circuit, which is an audio amplifier using LA4550 IC, we need to make two similar amplifier modes. Audio input is given to pin 8 of the IC. The power supply is given to pin 12 of an IC. However, Capacitors C11 and C12 are the filtering capacitors for the power supply. Also, Capacitors C1 and C7 are bootstrapping capacitors. Moreover, Capacitor C2 with resistor R1 and capacitor C8 with resistor R3 are there to prevent oscillations. Capacitors C6 and C3 define the lower cut-off frequency. Hence, the circuit works in this way.
