LM211 belongs to a series of voltage comparators that have low input currents. They are also designed to operate over a wide range of supply voltages: from standard ± 15V operational amplifier supplies down to the single +5V supply used for IC logic. The IC possesses direct interfacing capability with almost every PMOS, CMOS, and NMOS device. Moreover, the IC offers a wide array of features such as I/O –ve feedback protection, low production cost, and excellent thermal cycling.
Voltage Comparator
A voltage comparator is a simple electronic circuit that has the capability to compare two applied voltages. The comparator then switches the output to either a high or low state depending upon which voltage is higher. Comparator circuits are widely used in applications, where physical measurements need to be compared, provided those physical variables can be translated into voltage signals. In a practical voltage comparator; the reference voltage is set using the voltage divider network comprising of R1 and R2.
Vref = (V+/ (R1 + R2)) x R2.
