The 74LS147 features priority decoding of the inputs to ensure that only the highest-order data line is encoded. The 74LS147 encode nine data lines to four-line (8-4-2-1) BCD. The 74LS147 has built-in Schottky barrier diode to process for high speed. The 74LS147 IC has a wide range of working voltage, a wide range of working conditions, and directly interfaces with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL. The output of the IC always comes in TTL which makes it easy to work with other TTL devices and microcontrollers.
What is a Priority Encoder?
A priority encoder provide ‘n’ bits of binary coded output representing the position of the highest order active input of 2n inputs. If two or more inputs are high at the same time, the input having the highest priority will take precedence.
