In this DIY, we are making a project of a 4V battery charger circuit. A battery charger is a device used to put energy into a secondary cell or rechargeable battery by applying an electric flow through it. Simple AC-powered battery chargers usually have a lot higher ripple current and ripple voltage than different sorts of battery chargers since they are inexpensively designed and fabricated. This simple battery charger is very inexpensive as it requires some low-cost components.

Hardware Components

The following components are required to make a 4V battery charger circuit

3.Capacitor105J 400V1
4.Resistor390K, 5001, 1
5.Alligator clips with wires0.5mm2

Useful Steps

Step# 01

First, join four diodes together.

Step# 02

Then connect Capacitor 40V 100µF with the diode.

Step# 03

Then connect Capacitor 105j 400V with a resistor.

Step# 04

Then solder Capacitor 105j 400V with resistor and Capacitor 40V 100µF with diode.

Step# 05

Then connect two 0.5mm wires with the rest of the circuit.

Step# 06

Then connect a plug to the circuit.

Step# 07

Then test the circuit by connecting it to the LED.

Working Explanation

Now, we are discussing the circuit operation of the Battery Charger. For making this simple battery charger circuit, we required some components like diodes, capacitors, and resistors. A simple battery charger works by providing a constant DC or pulsed DC power source to a battery being charged. A simple charger normally doesn’t modify its output based on charging time or the charge on the battery. A carefully designed charger takes more time to charge a battery since it is set to utilize a lower (i.e. more secure) charging rate.

Applications and Uses

The applications and uses of the battery charger circuit are:

  • This battery charger circuit is used to charge small capacities batteries.
  • It can also be used in small electronic circuits where we require battery chargers.
