Introduction

As we all know that amplifiers are the circuits that convert weak signals into high amplitude signals. However, the amplifiers are of two kinds preamplifiers and power amplifiers. Further, the power amplifiers are classified into different types. These include Class A, Class B, Class AB, Class C, etc. But, this article is about making the Class B Audio Amplifier of 15Watts. Before start making the circuit, first, we need to learn about Class B amplifiers

Brief Overview Class B Amplifier Circuit

The class B amplifier circuit is the device that conducts only one-half cycle that comes from an input signal. This means, that the amplifier has a conduction angle of 180 degrees. The class B amplifier circuit is more efficient than class A. And, it has an efficiency of 78.5%.

Working Explanation

To make the circuit, the dual opamp LM833 ICs are used. The IC provides a high slew rate with low distortion. The IC1a is connected to the circuit as a buffer. And, the second IC1b is used to provide negative feedback. Capacitor C3 is used to decouple input signals.

Application and Uses

It is used to remove the cross-over distortion. Therefore can be used in the circuits of:

  • electronic keyboard
  • Theatrical equipment
  • Guitars
  • Mic
