In this tutorial, we are going to make a “15w Dual Car Audio Amplifier Circuit”. An audio power amplifier is an electronic amplifier, that amplifies low-power electronic audio signals. Such as the signal from a radio receiver or an electric guitar pickup, to a level that is high enough for driving loudspeakers or headphones. Audio power amplifiers are found in all manner of sound systems including sound reinforcement, public address, home audio systems, and musical instrument amplifiers like guitar amplifiers. It is the final electronic stage in a typical audio playback chain before the signal is sent to the loudspeakers.

In this article, we will understand the TDA7297 IC, which is a common dual bridge amplifier IC. It contains a 15W+15W dual bridge amplifier, and it is most suitable for low-power car audio amplifiers. Several readymade TDA 7297 amplifier boards are available, and prices are also considerably cheap. This amplifier IC accepts a wide range of supply voltage from 6V to 18V. It produces good audio output with minimum external components, hence board size becomes tiny.

TDA7297 Pinout

The IC just requires a few more capacitors and resistors, making it simple for designers to incorporate it into small portable applications. It has standby & mute functions, and it can be handled through a microprocessor. The silent function eliminates the need for additional components, and the stand-by function can be employed to save battery life. A microprocessor is typically utilized to control the mute and standby capabilities based on human input.TDA 7297 contains short circuit protection and thermal overload protection. This IC has a wide range of applications in sound systems, such as television boards and PC amplifier boards.

Working Explanation

The TDA7297 is a popular audio amplifier  IC and is simple to use. The IC is a dual bridge amplifier, which means it needs both left and right audio input to generate stereo output. In this circuit two stereos, and audio inputs are present. Which are represented as IN1 and IN2.  The output is also split into two channels, each of which can drive 15  W speakers. In addition, each channel provides an inverting and non-inverting output, for connecting the speaker’s positive and negative terminals (which can connect two separate speakers with the right polarity, to get good sound output).
